ASPHALT DRUM MIX

Asphalt Drum Mix Plant

A continuous production system where the drying of aggregates and the mixing of bitumen and filler materials take place simultaneously inside a single rotating drum. Unlike batch plants that process asphalt in individual cycles, drum mix plants operate continuously, making them highly efficient for large‑scale, fast‑paced road construction projects like highways and runways. Capacities from 35 to 160 TPH.

Continuous Asphalt Production at Its Best

An Asphalt Drum Mix Plant is a continuous production system where the drying of aggregates and the mixing of bitumen and filler materials take place simultaneously inside a single rotating drum. Unlike batch plants that process asphalt in individual cycles, drum mix plants operate continuously, making them highly efficient for large‑scale, fast‑paced road construction projects like highways and runways.

flowchart Key Components & System Layout

An asphalt drum mix plant relies on an uninterrupted, synchronized flow of materials. The system consists of these primary zones:

  • check_circle
Cold Aggregate Feeder Bins: Multiple bins feed different sizes of stone chips and sand onto a gathering conveyor belt. Each bin features a variable-speed drive to control the material ratio accurately.
  • check_circle
Slinger Conveyor: A tilted belt conveyor that receives the blended aggregates from the feeder bins and drops them directly into the drying drum. It usually features a vibrating screen to remove oversized stones.
  • check_circle
The Dryer-cum-Mixer Drum: The core of the plant. The drum is divided into two functional zones:
    — Drying Zone (Front): A high-capacity burner blasts a flame into the drum. Aggregates move through internal flights that lift and cascade the stones through the flame to remove all moisture.
    — Mixing Zone (Rear): Located behind the burner flame. Liquid bitumen and mineral filler are injected here, coating the hot, dry aggregates continuously.
  • check_circle
Bitumen Storage Tanks: Heavily insulated tanks equipped with internal heating coils (powered by a Thermic Fluid Heater) that keep liquid bitumen at pumping temperatures.
  • check_circle
Pollution Control System: Captures fine dust particles before the exhaust gas exits the chimney. This is either a mid‑tier Wet Dust Scrubber (cyclonic water spray) or a high‑efficiency Baghouse Filter.
  • check_circle
Load‑out Conveyor & Silo: A hot elevator or gob hopper conveyor transports the finished hot‑mix asphalt from the drum into a storage silo or directly onto waiting dump trucks.

What is the difference between counter‑flow and parallel‑flow drum?expand_more

In counter‑flow drum, the aggregate moves opposite to the burner flame, allowing for better heat transfer and reduced emissions. Parallel‑flow drum has the aggregate and flame moving in the same direction, offering simpler operation. Our plants are available in both configurations to suit different project requirements.

What fuels can this plant use?expand_more

The plant supports multiple fuels including Diesel, LDO (Light Diesel Oil), Furnace Oil, and Natural Gas, offering flexibility based on fuel availability and cost.

What is the typical aggregate moisture content range?expand_more

The plant can handle aggregates with moisture content up to 5–7% with appropriate burner adjustments. Higher moisture may require additional heating capacity or pre‑drying systems.

Is the plant suitable for continuous operation?expand_more

Yes, the plant is designed for 24/7 continuous operation with robust construction and automated controls, ensuring consistent production and minimal downtime.

What pollution control options are available?expand_more

The plant can be equipped with either a mid‑tier Wet Dust Scrubber (cyclonic water spray) or a high‑efficiency Baghouse Filter, depending on emission compliance requirements.
